Cost Accountant jobs may vary with their specific titles and responsibilities. Cost Accountants may implement and maintain cost accounting systems, prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits, examine and review cost records and ensure cost data is allocated correctly. The position typically contacts and works with other departments to resolve problems. Cost Accountant responsibilities may also include preparing journal entries, maintaining and reconciling balance accounts, analyzing and preparing variance and special reports for management.
Requirements for this position may include the following: Minimum three years of accounting experience; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; proven ability to be effective on cross-functional teams; demonstrated experience independently managing multiple priorities and operating in a fast paced work environment; and demonstrated ability to execute various assignments and projects with minimal supervision. Compliance experience in support of Sarbanes Oxley requirements and overall internal control structure is often preferred.
